Born from Korean tradition and reinterpreted
through a modern lens,
Chowol Makgeolli Brewery in Mapo is a space created in collaboration with Morpho, an interior design group known for their site-specific approach and attention to Korean detail.
Using traditional Korean architectural materials, reclaimed wooden pillars, and a wall inspired by the form of a traditional folding screen, the space houses the brewing of a truly transcendent makgeolli.

With the single goal of transcending makgeolli,
we spent years researching traditional home-brewed liquor to craft what we now call Chowol Makgeolli.
As a certified Korean traditional liquor sommelier and head brewer, our founder personally shares the story behind Chowol’s creation, its brewing process,
and insights into the rich world of Korean traditional alcohol.
